Work Rights in Australia

All employees at Western Sydney University must have the legal right to work in Australia. We welcome international applicants who are legally entitled to work in Australia. All employment offers are contingent upon the applicant securing the appropriate work rights by the time employment commences.

For more information, explore visa options for working in Australia by visiting the Department of Home Affairs.

Employer Visa Sponsorship

If you are offered a position with us and do not currently hold Australian work rights, we may be able to sponsor you, and eligible family members under an appropriate Employer Sponsored work visa.

We may offer employer-sponsored migration for qualified academic and specialised professional staff. The specific visa type will depend on the nature and duration of your appointment.

Our Talent Acquisition team will support you throughout the sponsorship process, working closely with the Department of Home Affairs to assess your eligibility in line with Australian immigration regulations.

Applicants must also inform the University of any immigration restrictions that may affect their ability to fulfil the terms of employment.

At Western Sydney University, we recognise that relocating, whether from interstate or overseas, is a major life decision. As one of Australia’s leading employers, we are committed to supporting a smooth and successful transition for our new staff.

To assist with the move, the University may offer financial support to help cover eligible travel and relocation expenses for successful candidates.
