Western Sydney and External Engagement
Heading
The Division of Western Sydney and External Engagement plays a key role in building and strengthening relationships with communities, partners, and stakeholders across the region and beyond. Through a broad portfolio that spans government relations, alumni engagement, philanthropy, marketing and communications, student recruitment, and strategic partnerships, the Division supports the University’s mission to drive positive impact, regional development, and global connectivity.
At the heart of this work is the Centre for Western Sydney, a leading hub for research, policy, and advocacy focused on the economic, social, and cultural development of Greater Western Sydney. The Centre provides valuable insights and drives initiatives that enhance the region’s visibility and influence, aligning with the University’s long-standing commitment to the communities it serves.

The Division also encompasses Western Sydney Creative, which fosters collaboration between the University and the creative industries. Through innovative projects and partnerships, this unit promotes cultural expression, creative enterprise, and community engagement, enriching the cultural life of the region while supporting student opportunities in the arts and design sectors.
The Office of Advancement leads fundraising and philanthropic efforts, cultivating meaningful relationships with donors, alumni, and key supporters. Working closely with internal and external partners—including the Foundation Council and Hawkesbury Foundation Board—the office manages strategic giving programs such as Staff Giving and matched funding initiatives. Its work supports scholarships, research, student experience, and community initiatives, fostering a culture of philanthropy that benefits the entire University community.

This includes career development resources, mentoring, networking events, and alumni chapters around the world. The Alumni team supports meaningful engagement, fostering a strong sense of belonging and encouraging alumni to contribute to the University’s future.
