The Office of the Vice-Chancellor and President sits at the heart of Western Sydney University’s leadership and strategic direction. Led by Distinguished Professor George Williams AO, this Division plays a central role in shaping the University's future by providing leadership in governance, policy, strategy, and community engagement. It ensures that the University remains responsive, forward-thinking, and aligned with its values of integrity, excellence, equity, and sustainability.

As the principal executive office of the University, the Division works across all levels of the institution to support decision-making, foster innovation, and maintain high standards of accountability. It brings together a number of key functions that are critical to the effective operation and long-term success of the University.

The Legal, Compliance and Governance unit provides expert legal advice and supports the development and implementation of policies and procedures that comply with regulatory requirements. It works closely with University leadership, the Board of Trustees, and various internal stakeholders to ensure strong and transparent governance structures are in place.

Audit and Risk is responsible for enhancing accountability and managing institutional risk. Through regular reviews, internal audits, and risk assessments, this area ensures the University’s operations are safe, ethical, and aligned with best practices. It plays a crucial role in fraud prevention, business continuity planning, and organisational integrity.

Strategic Communication manages the University’s external communications to ensure that messaging is clear, consistent, and aligned with Western Sydney University’s values and strategic objectives. This team is responsible for strengthening the University's brand, enhancing its public profile, and building meaningful connections with students, staff, partners, and the broader community.

The Strategy and Transformation team leads the development and delivery of strategic initiatives that drive positive change and innovation. This includes projects that improve operational efficiency, identify growth opportunities, and position the University for long-term success in a competitive and rapidly evolving higher education landscape.
