Research Assistant - BP Connect

• 2 x part-time 7 hours per week (0.2 FTE), fixed-term positions until 31 December 2026.
• Liverpool City campus with flexible working arrangements.
• Salary: $87,065 – $98,462 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading (Pro-Rata).

Support community-based hypertension research through culturally responsive engagement, ethical data collection and project delivery.

The Opportunity
The School of Medicine is seeking two Research Assistants to support the delivery of a culturally tailored hypertension self-management program for Hindi, Nepali, Bengali and Urdu-speaking communities in Western Sydney.

You will coordinate community consultations, co-design workshops and bilingual educator training, while supporting participant recruitment and culturally responsive engagement with community partners, educators and consumer representatives. You will also contribute to the translation and cultural adaptation of health resources for participating communities.

You will undertake approved data collection, maintain accurate research records and organise qualitative and quantitative data for analysis. Working under the supervision of the Chief Investigator and senior researchers, you will also assist with project administration, reports, policy briefs and dissemination materials while meeting ethics, privacy, confidentiality and data-governance requirements.

What Success Looks Like:

• Coordinate community consultations, co-design workshops and bilingual educator training within agreed project timelines.
• Build respectful and culturally responsive relationships with community partners, educators, consumer representatives and participants.
• Conduct approved data-collection activities and maintain accurate, confidential and audit-ready research records.
• Compile and organise qualitative and quantitative data to support analysis and reporting.
• Prepare clear draft reports, policy briefs and dissemination materials for review by the research team.

About You
You enjoy supporting meaningful research and are highly organised, detail-oriented and confident working with a diverse range of participants and stakeholders. To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• A relevant qualification in public health, health sciences, epidemiology, social sciences or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and training.
• Experience supporting research projects, including participant or stakeholder engagement, data collection, data entry and maintaining accurate records.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple activities and meet project deadlines.
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage respectfully and sensitively with culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, along with an understanding of ethical research conduct, privacy, confidentiality and secure data handling, or the ability to quickly develop this knowledge.

Desirable
The following experience and skills would be highly regarded:

• Multilingual communication skills, including proficiency in English and one or more of the following; Hindi, Nepali, Bengali or Urdu.
• Experience in community-based health research or engaging with culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
• Experience using qualitative or quantitative research tools such as NVivo, REDCap or SPSS.
