The Opportunity
Western Sydney University is seeking a highly organised and proactive Senior Administrative Officer to join the Division of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Leadership.
The Senior Administrative Officer provides high-level administrative and executive support to the Pro Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Education, Directors within the Division of Indigenous Leadership and the Director of Indigenous Research in the Division of Research and Innovation. The position also provides broader assistance to the Division of Indigenous Leadership, contributing to the achievement of the Division’s strategic and operational priorities.
This is a diverse and rewarding position that will see you coordinating complex calendars, meetings, correspondence, travel, financial administration and divisional events. You will prepare reports, presentations, briefing materials and communications, while also following up actions, deadlines, projects and other priority matters.
Working both independently and collaboratively, you will build strong relationships across the Division, the broader University, community and industry. You will use initiative, sound judgement and effective decision-making to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes within tight timeframes.
The position will also support project and event delivery, undertake preliminary research, access and interpret information from University systems, maintain appropriate records, and contribute to significant divisional activities, including seminars, lectures, online presentations and the NAIDOC Week events.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrative professional to work alongside senior Indigenous leaders and contribute to initiatives that strengthen Indigenous education, research, engagement and student outcomes across Western Sydney University.
What Success Looks Like:
Success in this role will be demonstrated through responsive and professional executive and administrative support. The successful candidate will:
- Provide high-quality administrative and executive support to the Pro Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Education, Directors within the Division of Indigenous Leadership and the Director of Indigenous Research in the Division of Research and Innovation.
- Manage complex calendars, meetings, travel arrangements and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, community representatives, Elders, industry partners and external stakeholders.
- Prepare correspondence, reports, presentations, briefing papers and other business-critical documentation.
- Coordinate projects, events, actions and deadlines, ensuring activities are delivered efficiently and on time.
- Support divisional operations through effective records management, financial administration and data reporting.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of divisional events, initiatives and strategic priorities across Indigenous Education, Research, Futures and Student Success.
- Demonstrate initiative, sound judgement and a solutions-focused approach while balancing multiple priorities and stakeholder needs.

- Advanced computer literacy and experience using organisational systems and business applications.

- The flexibility to travel between and work across Western Sydney University campuses as required.
