About the Casual Teaching Community
The Casual Teaching Community is open for eligible candidates to register an Expression of Interest (EoI) for casual employment with Western Sydney University (WSU). The Casual Teaching Community enables the School to access suitable and experienced individuals for casual employment opportunities across a broad range of business areas at short notice, subject to the following:

  • You will be engaged as and when required, and on an ad hoc and/or intermittent basis. The University does not guarantee the provision of ongoing or regular employment, and makes no firm advance commitment to continuing or indefinite work.
  • Your application is not a guarantee that an offer of casual employment will be made.
  • You will only be contacted regarding your application if an opportunity arises that matches your skills and experience.


The Opportunity
The School of Arts, WSU, invites expressions of interest from people who are interested in casual academic work which will involve lectures, tutorials, workshops and marking in the Bachelor of Screen Media (Arts and Production) program. 

Core and Major areas of Screen Media include Screen Media Fundamentals, Documentary (Factual) and Digital Narrative, Narrative (Fictional), Episodic and Documentary (Factual) Screen Media, Immersive Screen Technologies and Screen Media Capstone.

We invite applications from candidates with teaching expertise in one or more of our program areas for inclusion in our eligibility list. The Bachelor of Screen Media (Arts and Production) is offered on the Parramatta South campus.

Eligibility
To be considered for casual employment, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • A postgraduate qualification (minimum Master’s degree; PhD or equivalent professional experience desirable)
  • Recent and relevant teaching experience at tertiary level and/or evidence of teaching capability
  • Relevant expertise in at least one of the following areas Screen Media include Screen Media Fundamentals, Documentary (Factual) and Digital Narrative, Narrative (Fictional), Episodic and Documentary (Factual) Screen Media, Immersive Screen Technologies and Screen Media Capstone.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse academic environment


Academic Staff Agreement: For casual rates of pay please refer to Schedule 2 of the Academic Staff Agreement.

  • Working Rights: This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. At the time of application, proof of your working rights in Australia must be provided.
