  • Salary: $123,327 - $145,625 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading (Pro-rata equivalent based on fraction $61,663.50 - $72,812.50 per annum).

The Opportunity
Western Sydney University is seeking a Lecturer in Animation to join the School of Arts within the Faculty of Social Sciences, Arts, Business, Education and Law. Based at Parramatta South Campus, this part-time fixed-term role will primarily contribute to teaching within the Bachelor of Design and Animation minor.

You will design and deliver engaging undergraduate learning experiences across Animation, combining theory, visual storytelling and contemporary production practice. Working with students across Levels 2 and 3, you will support the development of creative, technical and professional capabilities using industry-relevant tools and workflows.

The role also encompasses curriculum development, research and/or creative practice, and engagement with industry and professional communities. Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Design discipline, you will help shape the future direction of Animation at Western Sydney University while ensuring teaching remains contemporary, innovative and industry informed.

  • Deliver engaging, industry-informed teaching across undergraduate Animation subjects.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and student success through innovative and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Maintain an active program of research and/or creative practice that enhances the discipline and student experience.
  • Build productive industry relationships that support curriculum relevance and student opportunities.
  • Contribute positively to the School's academic community through collaboration, service and leadership.

About You

  • A doctoral qualification in Animation, Screen Production, Motion Design, Visual Communication or a closely related discipline (equivalent industry standing and professional experience).
  • Demonstrated experience teaching Animation at tertiary level, with the ability to deliver engaging studio-based and theoretical learning experiences.
  • Strong technical expertise across contemporary animation production workflows, including industry-standard software and emerging technologies.
  • An emerging or established profile in research, creative practice, or scholarship relevant to Animation and screen-based media.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with colleagues, students, and industry partners.
