  • Casual position for variable hours and days based on operational needs
  • Based at Western’s Parramatta South Campus
  • Salary: HEW 6 $97,693 – $104,713 per annum, plus 25% casual loading

The Opportunity

The Project Officer (WIL) is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination and monitoring of Work Integrated Learning (WIL) projects across the Faculty of Social Sciences, Arts, Business, Education & Law (SABEL). Working closely with the Placements, WIL & Industry Liaison Manager, the Project Officer (WIL) will collaborate with academic and professional staff, students and external partners to ensure WIL projects and partnerships are delivered on time, within budget and in compliance with University policy and relevant legislation.

The Project Officer (WIL) will coordinate WIL project activities, support placement administration and contribute to building and maintaining relationships with industry and community partners to expand placement and project opportunities. A key aspect of the role is undertaking data analysis to track progress, identify trends and provide insights to improve performance and efficiency across WIL programs.

Through a combination of project support, reporting and stakeholder engagement, the Project Officer (WIL) will contribute to achieving the Faculty’s WIL strategic priorities and enhancing the overall student experience. While based at the Faculty level, this role will collaborate with Schools across the Faculties to provide WIL support during high-demand periods as necessary.

What Success Looks Like:

  • WIL projects and placements are coordinated effectively and delivered on time.
  • Strong relationships are established with industry and community partners.
  • Accurate reports and insights support continuous improvement of WIL activities.
  • Administrative processes, documentation and records are maintained to a high standard.
  • Placement quality, student progress and partner satisfaction are monitored and improved.


About You
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following capabilities and experience:

  • A degree with relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Experience coordinating projects or placements, ideally within WIL, industry engagement or a similar environment.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience interpreting data and providing recommendations.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
