  • Full-time, 6 month Fixed-Term position at Academic Level A.
  • Parramatta South campus with flexible working arrangements.
  • Salary: $97,153 – $117,376 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading.


Contribute to an ARC Discovery Project on graded combinatorial algebras through high-quality research outputs.

The Opportunity
In this role, you will undertake research aligned to the strategic priorities of the School of Computer, Data and Mathematical Sciences, contributing to outputs, scholarly dissemination, and a strong research culture under the guidance of a senior academic. Your work will support an Australian Research Council Discovery Project investigating the graded structure of combinatorial algebras.

You will plan and deliver research activities from inception through to output, working with limited supervision to meet agreed milestones and priorities. You will publish peer‑reviewed work and other research outputs appropriate to your career stage, and present findings at seminars, workshops and conferences to build visibility and impact.

You will contribute to research grant activity by supporting the preparation of applications, tenders and funding proposals. You will collaborate with internal and external partners, including industry, government and community stakeholders where relevant, and contribute to the University’s teaching program on occasion in relation to the research project(s). You will also participate in administration and meetings as required, while modelling ethical practice and contributing to an inclusive research environment.

About You

  • Doctoral qualification (or substantial progress) in Mathematics or a related field, or a Master’s with equivalent research experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research from inception through to output using mathematical methods.
  • Evidence of research outputs appropriate to career stage.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with proven organisation and prioritisation.
  • Experience or capacity to contribute to research grant proposals and support collaborative research.
