Conduct and translate midwifery research that strengthens evidence-informed care for women, babies, families and communities.
The Opportunity
We're looking for an Associate Fellow to support a joint venture between Western Sydney University and Western Sydney Local Health District, advancing midwifery research and practice. Working under the direction of the Clinical Chair in Midwifery, you will undertake research activities across the full research lifecycle and collaborate with academic, clinical and community partners.
You will coordinate literature reviews, participant recruitment, data collection and research documentation in accordance with approved ethics protocols and University requirements. You will maintain high-quality research data management practices, contribute to qualitative and quantitative analysis, and support the preparation of reports, conference presentations, practitioner resources and scholarly publications.
You will also build productive relationships with health service partners, government agencies and professional networks to support collaborative research initiatives. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to research grant development, support research capability building, and help translate research findings into practical outcomes that benefit women, babies, families and communities.
What Success Looks Like:
- Deliver high-quality, ethics-compliant research activities including recruitment, data collection and documentation.
- Maintain accurate and secure research data systems that support analysis, reporting and publication.
- Contribute to reports, conference presentations, practitioner resources and scholarly publications.
- Build effective partnerships with health service, government and university stakeholders.
- Support research grant development and research capability across project teams.

About You
We're looking for someone who brings a mix of clinical expertise, research experience and a collaborative approach. You will have:
- Registration (or eligibility for registration) as a Nurse or Midwife with AHPRA, or relevant clinical experience in midwifery or a related health discipline.
- A PhD in Midwifery, Nursing, Health or a related field, or be working towards one. Equivalent research qualifications and experience will also be considered.
- Experience contributing to research projects across the full research lifecycle, from literature reviews and participant recruitment through to data collection, analysis, reporting and dissemination.
- A track record of contributing to publications, conference presentations and other research outputs.
- Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with health services, government agencies, professional bodies and other key stakeholders.
