• Salary: HEW Level 6 $97,693 – $104,713 p.a., plus 17% Super and Leave Loading.

The Opportunity
Western Sydney University is seeking two Badanami Student Success Officers to join the Badanami Centre for Indigenous Education to support and empower Indigenous students throughout their academic journey.

The Badanami Student Success Officer supports the day-to-day delivery of culturally responsive services for Indigenous students. The role provides student support, mentoring, transitional assistance and pastoral care designed to improve the student experience and strengthen success throughout the student lifecycle.

Working closely with other Badanami Centres, schools and Academic Support units, the Badanami Student Success Officer will coordinate timely and accessible support services. The role will build collaborative relationships across the University and contribute to initiatives that improve student engagement, retention, satisfaction and graduation outcomes.

The Badanami Student Success Officer will monitor service performance, identify trends and recommend practical improvements informed by student feedback and data. The role will also support staff capability, maintain high-quality Badanami Centre environments and ensure services meet relevant University policies and legislative requirements.

These are full-time, ongoing positions based at Western’s Parramatta South and Campbelltown Campuses. The successful candidate appointed to the Campbelltown position will also provide regular support at Western’s Liverpool Campus, with one day per week dedicated to working from Liverpool. Travel to other campuses of the University may be required.

What Success Looks Like:
Success in this role will be demonstrated through culturally safe, coordinated and responsive support for Indigenous students. The successful candidate will:

• Build meaningful connections with Indigenous students, providing proactive outreach, guidance and support throughout their university journey.
• Develop and deliver student success initiatives that strengthen engagement, belonging, retention and academic outcomes across Western campuses.
• Work collaboratively with Faculty Indigenous Student Success Officers, academic teams, professional staff and support services to ensure a coordinated and student-centred approach to Indigenous student success.
• Manage and coordinate student support workflows, ensuring timely, responsive and high-quality delivery of services, programs and interventions.
• Identify students requiring additional support through proactive engagement, data insights and collaboration with relevant stakeholders to implement appropriate strategies.
• Contribute to monitoring, evaluation and reporting activities by analysing student engagement data, identifying trends and recommending improvements to enhance outcomes.
• Build and maintain strong partnerships across the University and with external organisations to strengthen opportunities, pathways and support for Indigenous students.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of Badanami programs, services and operations through student feedback, evidence-based practice and strategic thinking.
• Ensure all activities align with University policies, procedures, legislative requirements and best practice approaches in Indigenous student support.
• Maintain Badanami Centres as welcoming, culturally safe and professional environments that foster connection, belonging and student success.

About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring a passion for supporting Indigenous students, along with:

• An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline with substantial relevant experience in program planning, delivery and review, preferably in higher education with a focus on Indigenous Peoples Education.
• Demonstrated achievement in delivering Indigenous support services and responding proactively to student needs.
• Experience identifying service trends, systemic barriers and opportunities for process improvement.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work respectfully across cultures and maintain collaborative relationships.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and contribute effectively within a team.

Working with Children Check: It is a mandatory requirement for any incumbent of this position to have a current NSW Employee Working with Children Clearance in accordance with the NSW Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.
