About the Casual Teaching Community
The Casual Teaching Community is open for eligible candidates to register an Expression of Interest (EoI) for casual employment with Western Sydney University, The College. The Casual Teaching Community enables The College to access suitable and experienced individuals for casual employment opportunities across a broad range of business areas at short notice, subject to the following:
- You will be engaged as and when required, and on an ad hoc and/or intermittent basis. The College does not guarantee the provision of ongoing or regular employment, and makes no firm advance commitment to continuing or indefinite work.

The Opportunity
The College is seeking motivated and adaptable casual English Teachers to contribute to the delivery of high‑quality teaching within its English Language Programs and Short‑Term English Courses.
You will work collaboratively as part of a teaching team to deliver engaging, communicative, and student‑centred learning experiences that support the development of learners’ language proficiency, confidence, and academic skills, while providing academic support aligned with program requirements.
As a Casual English Teacher are expected to:
- Deliver engaging English language classes aligned with course objectives and learning outcomes.
- Facilitate learning face‑to‑face across a range of student cohorts.
- Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback, including participation in assessment and moderation activities.
- Provide academic guidance, consultations, and early intervention support where required.
- Participate in peer observation, professional development, and quality assurance activities.
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with ELICOS Standards and the ESOS Framework.
- Contribute to College activities such as student orientations, graduations, Open Days, and the enhancement of learning materials and LMS content.

Eligibility
To be eligible for casual employment, applicants must meet the following requirements.
In accordance with NEAS guidelines, the successful applicant will hold one of the following combinations of qualifications:
- Recognised degree or equivalent and a recognised TESOL qualification; OR
- Recognised degree or equivalent and a teaching qualification with TESOL method; OR
- Recognised degree in education that includes a TESOL method
In addition, you will demonstrate:
- Recent and relevant teaching experience with evidence of high‑quality and innovative teaching practices, and the ability to facilitate learning in both small and large group settings.
- Experience teaching students from diverse linguistic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.
- Proficiency in IT systems, particularly learning management systems such as Canvas, Moodle, or Blackboard.
- It is a mandatory requirement for all College employees to have a current NSW employee Working with Children Clearance (WWCC) in accordance with the NSW Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.
