Contribute to teaching, research and practicum leadership in Exercise Science.

The Opportunity
Western Sydney University is seeking an innovative and collaborative academic to join the Sport and Exercise Science team within the School of Health Sciences. This role contributes to undergraduate teaching, research and scholarly activity, with a particular focus on exercise prescription and work integrated learning.

You will play a key role in leading the exercise science practicum program, supporting student professional development and ensuring compliance with Exercise and Sport Science Australia accreditation requirements. This includes contributing to practicum site sourcing, scheduling, supervisor engagement and quality assurance processes.

As a Lecturer you will deliver high-quality, evidence-based teaching, contribute to curriculum and assessment design, and build a developing research profile through publications, grant activity and higher degree research supervision. You will collaborate closely with academic and professional colleagues and maintain strong connections with industry and community partners across Western Sydney.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Coordinating and delivering high-quality teaching in exercise prescription and related areas.
  • Leading and supporting work integrated learning and practicum activities aligned to accreditation requirements.
  • Publishing peer-reviewed research and contributing to competitive research funding.
  • Supervising honours and higher degree research students toward timely completion.
  • Building effective internal and external partnerships that support teaching, research and student outcomes.

About You

  • A PhD in Exercise Science or a closely related discipline, with expertise in exercise prescription and delivery.
  • Demonstrated understanding of exercise science practicum requirements for Exercise and Sport Science Australia accreditation.
  • Eligibility for accreditation as an Exercise Scientist with Exercise and Sport Science Australia.
  • Evidence of delivering high-quality, contemporary teaching in a tertiary environment.
  • An emerging research track record with publications and demonstrated impact within the profession.
  • Capacity to supervise higher degree research students.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, particularly within the exercise science industry and practicum placement networks.


Desirable

  • Significant industry experience across exercise science settings.
  • Eligibility for accreditation as an Exercise Physiologist or Sport Scientist with Exercise and Sport Science Australia.
  • Experience in curriculum development related to exercise prescription and/or work integrated learning.
