The Opportunity
Western Sydney University is seeking an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander academic to join the School of Nursing and Midwifery as an Associate Lecturer. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to nursing education in a supportive and collaborative academic environment while building your teaching, research and professional profile.

In this role, you will contribute to the delivery of undergraduate and graduate diploma nursing programs, supporting students through engaging and contemporary teaching practices. You will help create positive learning experiences through curriculum development, preparation of learning materials, assessment and student support, while contributing to the School’s commitment to culturally responsive education and student success.

You will also have the opportunity to grow your scholarly and research capability through collaborative projects, publications and professional engagement aligned to School and University priorities. Working alongside experienced academic colleagues, you will build meaningful connections across the University and with industry and community partners, while engaging with initiatives led by the Division of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Leadership.

This role would suit someone who is passionate about education, committed to supporting future nurses, and excited by the opportunity to contribute to Indigenous leadership and representation within nursing and higher education.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Contributing to high-quality teaching, learning and curriculum development within nursing programs.
  • Supporting student success through engaging teaching practices, assessment and feedback.
  • Building a developing research, scholarship or professional practice profile aligned to School priorities.
  • Participating in outreach, engagement and University initiatives that strengthen student and community connections.
  • Collaborating with colleagues and contributing to Indigenous-led initiatives and activities across the University.

About You

  • You are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, as authorised under Section 14(D) of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
  • You hold an Honours Degree or substantial progress towards a higher qualification in Nursing or a relevant discipline, and/or an equivalent combination of relevant qualifications and professional experience aligned to the teaching programs of the school.
  • You have experience delivering quality teaching in higher education using contemporary learning, curriculum and assessment approaches.
  • You demonstrate emerging capability in research, scholarship or professional practice.
  • You are passionate about supporting students and building positive relationships with colleagues, communities and industry partners.
  • You bring a collaborative, curious and culturally responsive approach to your work.
