Provide strategic financial leadership that shapes investment decisions and delivers sustainable value across the University.

The Opportunity

The Commercial Manager plays a critical role in providing strategic financial and commercial leadership to support delivery of the University’s strategic priorities. Reporting to the Director, Strategy and Transformation, this role partners closely with Finance and senior leaders to ensure robust financial governance, effective investment planning, and value-for-money outcomes.

Working across a complex portfolio of programs and projects, you will lead financial planning, budgeting and forecasting activities, while monitoring performance and identifying opportunities to optimise investment decisions. You will translate complex financial data into clear insights that inform executive decision-making and support long-term organisational sustainability.

This role is central to strengthening commercial capability across the University. You will establish fit-for-purpose financial frameworks, manage commercial risk, and drive continuous improvement in financial management practices, enabling teams to deliver outcomes aligned with strategic objectives.

  • Financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes that support strategic delivery.
  • Clear, timely financial insights that inform executive and governance decisions.
  • Effective management of financial and commercial risks across portfolios.
  • Robust business cases, project budgets and financial controls aligned to priorities.
  • Improved financial literacy and commercial capability across project teams.

About You

  • Relevant qualification in business, economics or finance, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience in financial analysis, planning and reporting in complex environments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence at senior levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting financial insights.
  • Highly developed analytical, organisational and problem-solving capabilities.
