Support applied research that improves patient outcomes in nursing and midwifery practice across Western Sydney.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Research Officer to support the Centre of Nursing and Midwifery Research through a conjoint appointment with Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. The Research Officer will contribute to the delivery of research projects that focus on patient care, workforce issues, and clinical practice development.
The Research Officer will provide high-level support across all phases of the research lifecycle. This includes preparing grant applications, coordinating stakeholder engagement, conducting literature reviews, and contributing to data collection and analysis activities. The Research Officer will also assist with drafting publications, reports and presentations that support dissemination of research outcomes.
Working closely with senior academic and clinical leaders, the Research Officer will support multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strong administrative and financial oversight. The role is based at Nepean Hospital and requires collaboration across the University and health district, including travel as needed.

About You
The successful candidate will bring a strong foundation in health-related research and the ability to support complex projects in a collaborative environment. You will have:
- A tertiary qualification in a health-related discipline (PhD or progress towards completion preferred), with experience as a research officer in a tertiary or health setting.
- Strong oral, interpersonal and written communication skills, including experience preparing grant applications, ethics submissions, literature reviews, journal articles, research reports and promotional materials.
- Demonstrated ability to work confidently both independently and collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
- Highly developed computer literacy, including experience with research and office software, data analysis tools and reference management systems.
- Experience undertaking qualitative and/or quantitative data collection and analysis.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated administrative and coordination skills, including attention to detail and the ability to support small events and research activities.
