Senior Lecturer, General Practice – Bathurst Rural Clinical School

• Part-time 10.5 hours per week (0.3 FTE), fixed-term position until 31 March 2027.
• Based at Western's Bathurst Rural Clinical School with flexible working arrangements.
• Salary: Academic Level C pro-rata rates $45,024.30 – $51,717.60 p.a., plus 17% Super & Leave Loading.

Teach, research and deliver rural clinical service that strengthens general practice in the Bathurst region.

The Opportunity
You will play a key role in teaching, research and administrative activities within the School of Medicine, with a clear focus on preparing future medical practitioners. Working part-time (10.5 hours per week), you will deliver high-quality teaching, assessment, supervision and student support across the medical program, using contemporary learning approaches and educational technologies.

You will lead and contribute to curriculum development, innovation and academic quality assurance, including course coordination responsibilities as required. You will supervise Higher Degree Research candidates and support the professional development of students and colleagues, while contributing to School governance, committees and core academic administration.

You will also participate in clinical service delivery in the rural environment across Bathurst and surrounding regions, including relevant clinical and administrative responsibilities within the Department of General Practice as directed. This includes working across University and clinical partners, contributing to multidisciplinary collaboration, patient care, service development, and building strong relationships with hospitals, health services, industry and external stakeholders. Travel to additional campuses and clinical locations may be required as part of your teaching, research or clinical responsibilities.

About You

• You hold a qualification (PhD/MD or equivalent) and are currently registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Board of Australia.
• You bring specialist training and consultant-level experience, with strong clinical expertise gained in a teaching hospital environment.
• You’re an experienced educator with a track record in tertiary teaching, curriculum development, and supervising students.
• You work effectively in multidisciplinary clinical and academic teams and communicate with clarity and confidence.
• You have a strong record of research and scholarly outputs, with experience contributing to research programs and/or funding applications.
• You’re committed to student-centred education, equity, diversity and inclusion.
• You build effective collaborations and are comfortable delivering education across multiple sites or complex environments.
• You bring a proactive approach to innovation, service improvement and broader strategic initiatives.

Location‑Based Expectations

• This role is primarily based within the Bathurst region, with access to state‑of‑the‑art teaching and research facilities at the Bathurst Rural Clinical School.
• You will work across both the University and Primary Health Network, participating in clinical duties, education delivery, and collaborative activities across sites.
• Travel to additional campuses and clinical locations may be required as part of your teaching, research or clinical responsibilities.
