  • Academic Level C pro-rata rates $90,048.60 – $103,435.20 plus 17% Super & Leave Loading 
  • Academic Level D pro-rata rates $107893.20 – $118,596 plus 17% Super & Leave Loading 


Lead a focused research stream in integrative health with a strong translational and clinical trials focus.

The Opportunity
You will develop and lead a research stream within the NICM Health Research Institute, with a focus on complementary and integrative health approaches that translate into practical healthcare applications. This is a 3-year fixed-term appointment based at Westmead campus, with appointment at Academic Level C or D determined by your skills and experience.

You will design, oversee and conduct rigorous clinical research, including randomised controlled trials, to strengthen the evidence base for integrative healthcare across priority health areas such as cardiometabolic health, women’s reproductive health, cancer care, dementia and mental health. You will produce high-quality publications and reports, and actively contribute to the Institute’s research and translational programs through leadership and collaboration.

You will secure external research funding and build productive partnerships with government, industry, not-for-profit and community stakeholders. You will supervise higher degree research students and contribute to training and mentoring across projects, while supporting governance and external engagement activities that enhance the Institute’s reputation and impact.

  • Competitive research funding is secured through grants and collaborative partnerships.
  • High-quality peer-reviewed publications and reports are produced and disseminated.
  • Strong stakeholder relationships are built to support clinical and translational activity.
  • HDR students and project staff are effectively supervised to achieve timely outcomes.

About You

  • You hold a doctoral qualification (PhD) in a clinical and/or complementary medicine discipline aligned to integrative health.
  • You possess a strong track record of securing research income through competitive grants and/or industry or community partnerships.
  • You’ve demonstrated success in leading and delivering significant research projects, including the management of funded programs of work.
  • You bring the ability to develop and sustain impactful research networks, with a focus on meaningful stakeholder collaboration.
  • You have highly developed communication skills, enabling you to teach, present and translate research into real-world outcomes.
