  • Campbelltown campus with flexible working arrangements.
  • Salary: $97,693 – $104,713 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading.


Deliver reliable mass spectrometry operations that enable high-quality research and industry collaboration.

The Opportunity
You will provide advanced technical expertise within the Mass Spectrometry Research Facility, supporting researchers, HDR students and external partners through the delivery of high-quality analytical services. Working closely with the Research Facility Manager and technical colleagues, you will ensure the effective operation, maintenance and optimisation of LCMS and GCMS instrumentation.

You will oversee daily facility operations including instrument installation, calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting, while supporting data acquisition, quality assurance and analytical workflows. The role contributes to method development, reproducible research outcomes and the safe, compliant use of high-end instrumentation across a diverse user base.

You will also support externally funded research programs across areas including soil science, agriculture, clinical research and climate change, and work closely with researchers to deliver tailored technical solutions. As part of a centralised research facility, you will contribute to continuous improvement, documentation, training and collaborative research outcomes.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Reliable operation, maintenance and optimisation of LCMS and GCMS systems.
  • High-quality sample analysis and documentation supporting publishable research outcomes.
  • Effective support and training for researchers and HDR students using facility instrumentation.
  • Strong collaboration with academic, industry and external research partners.
  • Continuous improvement of workflows, documentation and facility performance.

About You

  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant science discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in LCMS and GCMS operation, troubleshooting and data analysis.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • High level of digital literacy and capacity to learn new systems and tools.
